Hi Ghengis, as dircribed on rosendahls homepage, the bonsai has a wordclock and a genlock in. You can also try to use the tc output for positioning. regards Jochen

What are you using for positional ref - LTC or Serial TC? If Serial TC, the SYNC I/O and Bosani must be locked to video ref. If LTC, make sure that Pro Tools is actually receiving the timecode and that "using SYNC" is NOT checked under generator in the Session Setup Window. Also, try unchecking all preferences in Setups>Preferences>MachineControl. If that's not it, please tell us which version of Pro Tools and what PC you have? -Jordan

We were using serial timecode. We don't have a sync i/o, but we were clocking tools via the word clock out of the bonsai drive (48k of course) - hence everything should be ok. I think the issue may still be the cable (rs232-422) I have seen suggestions of using a proper rs-232 to 422 adapter like the one that ships with an avid system. A few more points, the cables I have been using (various incarnations) have only been 2feet long also. This should be possible (if I'm not mistaken) without the use of a sync i/o? Just for reference we are using 6.7cs8 with a homegrown p4 3ghz system on asus mb (p4p800 I think from memory) 2gig memory. Thanks Ghengis

You only need the SYNC I/O resolved to blackburst if you want to use serial timecode for positional reference. It seems to me that this is what you want to do, which is why I stated what I did. DigiTechSupt has got the info you need to drive the Bonsai drive without serial timecode in a prior post.

As Chief Technician says, without a Sync I/O (assuming you are working on an HD system), Pro Tools will not have a positional reference. Pro Tools won't be able to generate code either. You'll need to get one.
