"In 1959, we had 50 disks, each 24" in diameter, continuously spinning at a speed of 1200RPM, capable of storing 6MB of data (a staggering 12MB if your company opted for the double-capacity versions). The size of this thing? 400-sq ft space required,

I did it. Had my old problem with the Purple Compressor breaking again -- had to reinstall the HD3 pack to get it working. Heat seems pretty subtle to me, but I like it. I also like the improvements to the IO window.

I've installed it and been running a bit, not any serious work, so far not much new aside from the I/O. But so far it hasn't crashed. Wish it had more features, the new I/O functions are I think a great step forward. But I have heard a friend who has his system crashing a lot with 8.1 now, until he figures out why, might be prudent to be careful if you're in the middle of a project.
